Our Story

Ricky Mock

Team Ricky: 
It's that time of year.... Purple Plunge 2023.  You guys know our story -- Ricky was diagnosed in 2012 with Ewings Sarcoma (bone cancer) at the age of 4. 

"It's cancer" is one of the most devastating set of words spoken to any parent. 

  • December 27, 2011: Diagnosis Day
  • January 2012: Chemotherapy starts
  • March 2012: Liver resection & Gall Bladder removed
  • May 2012: Remove Cancer, Rotationplasty surgery (google it) 
  • July 2012: Fittings for Prosthetic Leg
  • Sept 2012: Chemotherapy complete
  • Oct 2012: Prosthetic delivered 

Over the last 10 years Ricky has been fitted with 8 (or is it 9) different prosthetics and perseveres through it all.  Before my eyes, he is a teenager (and driving with his permit -- Lord help us all)!
